Instituto Trajetórias is a hub to enable students to do master abroad by:
Making it affordable: Negotiated tuition discounts with universities; Facilitating the provision of U$30-50K scholarships from local governments in Brazil, connected to people returning and working at different states, to cover living costs and/or tuition; Subsidized student loans up to U$30k, leveraging philanthropic capital.
Raising the visibility of opportunities: Selecting relevant master's degrees at top 100 universities and publicizing them; conducting active campaigns to encourage people to apply (as students graduate, they become role models who inspire others).
Providing support for a successful student experience: Accompanying students from start to finish; connecting them with job opportunities in Brazil upon completion of their studies.
"I had the experience of studying abroad, in the United States and in England. There are three very important things:
The first is the experience of knowledge itself. One goes, takes different courses, lives different experiences. One day you attend a lecture by a Nobel Prize winner in Economics; the next, by a Nobel Prize winner in Literature. Then there is a debate on democracy and authoritarianism. And that was very important for my education.
The second point is cultural experience, cultural interconnectedness. We learn about the other, and the other learns about us. That opens our horizon and broadens our space to understand the other as well: we observe the differences and how they are important and also beautiful.
The third point is employability. It's the opportunities that open up when you come back. When I went, working in the public sector, many said it wouldn't be worth it. But, when I came back, it opened up a lot of opportunities for me."
